The Beginning

This is the beginning of a new school. It's not a revolutionary idea or a brilliant new theory that needs testing. Advanced Christian Academy is the birth of a new thing from an old one that has had its time. Let me be more specific. The three founders of Advanced Christian came from a homeschool co-op, where people worked together for 16 years. We began thinking (and praying; lots of praying) about the positives and negatives of the homeschool co-op. We came up with the idea of a "private school co-op". We will hold classes three days per week. Some of our teachers will be parents of kids in the school, and some of our teachers will be hired. Tuition will be charged, but families may work off part of the tuition amount by filling positions around the school. No jobs will be created without necessity (meaning we won't make up a job for a parent who can not fill a position we need).

The vision of the three founders is to provide an environment for learning where the Word of God is the standard for both students and teachers. We promote education according to God's Word and the principles found therein. We endeavor to guide our students in learning disciplined study habits, maintaining a respect for authority, and striving for academic excellence. We believe that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are alive and working on earth today. We believe that salvation is acquired by an act of faith in Jesus Christ alone as Savior, and that Jesus Christ is God. We believe in the manifestation of the gifts of the spirit throughout the body of Christ.

All three of our founders are from the Gresham-Troutdale area. We are looking at locations in this area for Advanced Christian. Our goal is to have a meeting location approved by mid-April (2011). School will open September of 2011.

Also by mid-April, we hope to have an official website, with an application form ready for interested families to use.

Please pray for us and check back for our progress.
